MIA

Hey folks! Hope you all had a good weekend, and that Daylight Savings hasn't screwed up your schedules too much.  Here at the Morris Jr.'s house, we have been fighting a nasty chest cold, which put quite a damper in the beautiful weekend here in the Bay Area!  Ryan is better, but I am still fighting the cough of gross-ness.   Needless to say, because we've been sick, we have stayed away from visiting Jamie, cause we don't want to get her sick!  I did call the last few days (she can't answer her room phone yet, but I called Ron and Kathy who were in the room with her) to tell her I loved her, why Ryan and I weren't down, etc.  This is how one conversation went:

Lailah:  Hey Jamie! How are you doing?
Jamie:  Heeeeey!! I'm good.  It's really weird hearing your voice.
Lailah:  Well, Ryan and I are sick so we can't come down and visit today.
Jamie:  That's deplorable.
Lailah:  Well, yes, it is deplorable.
Jamie:  I miss you.
Lailah:  I miss you too, sweetie.  I love you though.
Jamie:  I love you too.  See you later.

It was priceless!! All in all, Jamie has had some pretty good days.  Her spirits were really high on Saturday, and she had a lot of fun with some friends that came to visit. We love it when she has so much fun - I think one of our concerns is that the more aware she gets, she may get bored.  Another concern with TBI patients is mild depression or mood swings.  We see Jamie's emotions changing and shifting, but we think she is doing pretty good at staying upbeat and positive.  It helps her when we remind her how far she has come in such a short amount of time.  Her short term memory right now is very weak, so she's not necessarily able to remember what happens day to day or week to week, so she may not be able to appreciate what a big deal it is for her to walk down the hall.  Her mom told her last week that a few weeks ago, all she could do was wiggle her toes and now she is walking all over the place.  Jamie got such a kick out of this, and giggled and then wiggled her toes :)

Please be praying that Jamie continue to gain cognitive function and awareness, and that with that she still be able to stay upbeat and positive.  Keep praising God for all the blessings!
