Fun Little Update

A little birdie told me that Jamie is having a great day! Each morning, Jamie gets evaluated by her doctor - she is asked to answer particular questions to test her cognitive ability.  Today, Jamie knew what day it was, the time, the year - lots of basic stuff that show she is developing cognitively.  She did so well, she got a chuckle out of her doc! She didn't quite get that she was in the hospital, but she did well overall.  I also heard that she had a great time in PT.  She walked up and down two flights of stairs, and was assisted by two therapists.  No word on how her lunch or dinner went, but I know she did a good job on eating her breakfast.  She ate about half of it, which is a lot for breakfast!

The best news from my little birdie is about Jamie's demeanor today.  I think I have mentioned that J has been having some mood swings, and periods where she will get frustrated because she can't communicate as well.  As far as I can tell, she was very cheery this morning, and was able to communicate really well.  She has virtually cut out the uncontrollable babbling, and was very aware this morning of her surroundings and what was going on.  Yay! We are so proud of our girl.

One new thing we learned this last week is that Jamie is exceeding the goals her team has set for her! These goals are set with her discharge date from the hospital in mind.  She does have an eventual discharge date that the hospital has set, which we are excited but nervous about.  We think its great that she is exceeding her discharge goals, but we are nervous about taking all the right steps to transition to the next phase.  Please be praying that the hospital will adequately prepare Jamie and us for her eventual discharge.  Please pray that she continue to gain awareness and cognitive function so that she gets closer and closer to independence.  Most of all, please continue to pray for a FULL RECOVERY.  One of our deepest hopes is that Jamie will have a full and normal life, and we rely on your prayers to continue on in that hope.

we love you all and are so excited that Jamie is doing so well, but please keep praying!!

love, us.

Lailah,

Thanks, again, for all of these great updates. It's become a part of my routine to check your blog every day to catch up on how Jamie is doing and how to pray for her.

Thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do for your family.
